Beep Street
In a world of beeps, loops, and automated processes, the body increasingly risks resembling a machine. Beep Street is a cartoonish theatrical experience in which performers dance and play to the rhythm of scanners, fitness devices, and digital voice commands.
With a cast of performers from dance, physical theatre, and performance art, director Jonas Baeke and performer Jef Hellemans create a poetic collision between body and system. Sound and movement interlock like a glitching machine, in a performance that balances between liberation and confinement.
Inspired by mime, classic slapstick, and contemporary electronic soundscapes, Beep Street delivers a vibrant and slightly disorienting performance about our relationship with technology — playful, sharp, and rhythmic.
