De Studio, Het Bos and De Cinema present Philippe Garrel’s Le Révélateur (1968) with a live soundtrack of the duo Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (Jerusalem In My Heart) and Réka Csiszér (VÍZ).

A man, a woman and a child wander through a desolate landscape. What they are fleeing from remains unclear, yet the sense of threat is ever-present. In this radical silent film from 1968, Philippe Garrel abandons conventional storytelling to create a hypnotic dreamscape where fear, desire and liberation constantly overlap. At its centre is the child: the smallest and most vulnerable character, yet also the most rebellious.

Shot in the aftermath of May ’68, Le Révélateur is cinema in its purest form—raw, instinctive and elusive. Garrel, the rebellious heir to the French New Wave, leads viewers through a labyrinth of subconscious imagery, dark tunnels and symbolic landscapes. It is a film that resists interpretation and demands to be experienced.

For this special screening, Le Révélateur will be accompanied by a new live score. Using cello, buzuq, rababa, voice, electronics and analogue synthesizers, Radwan Ghazi Moumneh and Réka Csiszér construct a haunting sonic world that perfectly complements Garrel’s visionary images. Their music moves between minimalism and tension, stillness and disorientation, breathing new life into the film without diminishing its mystery.

Since their first collaboration on the film in 2023, the soundtrack grew to an indepent work, built up from improvisation, experiment and intuition.

A rare opportunity to experience a cult classic of the French underground as it may always have been meant to be seen: live, loud and in the dark. In collaboration with Sound In Motion.
