Anne-Marie Miévilles MON CHER SUJET volgt drie generaties vrouwen: Angèle van 20, Agnès van 40 en Odile van 60 jaar oud. Zij zijn dochter, moeder en grootmoeder. We volgen hen afwisselend, terwijl ze elkaar maar ook de mannen in hun leven ontmoeten. Odile heeft een leeftijd bereikt waarin ze meer de eenzaamheid voelt. Ze probeert om opnieuw connectie te zoeken met haar dochter en kleindochter. Angèle wil alles en liefst nu uit het leven halen. Agnès heeft het moeilijk om zich te settelen en twijfelt tussen twee mannen, de speelse François en meer serieuze Hans.
Anne-Marie Miéville werkte als fotograaf wanneer ze Jean-Luc Godard leerde kennen in Parijs in 1970 en dat zou de start worden van een hele productieve samenwerking. Maar Miéville was allesbehalve de stille partner van Jean-Luc Godard. Met haar werk als zeer belangrijke multimediakunstenaar, filmmaker, monteur, schrijver en fotograaf creëerde ze een van de meest productieve en duurzame oeuvres binnen de filmwereld.
Film- en kunsthistoricus en docent Steven Jacobs (UAntwerpen, Universiteit Gent) geeft voor de film een lezing: 'Jean-Luc Godard'. Deze lezing om 17u00 is inbegrepen in de prijs van het filmticket.

Anne-Marie Miéville’s MON CHER SUJET follows three generations of women: Angèle is 20, Agnès is 40 and Odile is 60 years old. They are daughter, mother and grandmother. We follow them alternately, while they meet each other and the men in their lives. Odile has reached an age where she feels more and more loneliness. She tries to find a connection to her daughter and her granddaughter. Angèle wants to live life to the fullest. Agnès has trouble settling down and hesitates between two men, the playful François and the more serious Hans.
Anne-Marie Miéville worked as a photographer when she met Jean-Luc Godard in Paris of 1970 and this would mean the start of a very productive collaboration. But Miéville was anything but Jean-Luc Godard’s quiet companion. With her work as a very important multimedia artist, filmmaker, editor, writer and photographer, she created one of the most productive and lasting oeuvres withing the film world.
Film and art historian and professor Steven Jacobs (University of Antwerp, University of Ghent) will give a lecture: ‘Jean-Luc Godard’. The lecture starts at 17h00 and is included in the film ticket price.
