Op zondag 31 augustus vertrekken verschillende boten vanuit Europa richting Palestina, met als doel de blokkade van Gaza te doorbreken en broodnodige humanitaire hulp te leveren. In solidariteit organiseert Global Movement to Gaza het Global Sumud Flotilla Launch Event, dat gelijktijdig plaatsvindt in Antwerpen, Brussel, Gent en Luik.

Tijdens dit evenement vertonen we de documentaire THE TRUTH: LOST AT SEA, over de Israëlische aanval op de Freedom Flotilla in 2010. Na de film volgt een Q&A met Astrid Jamar, vertegenwoordiger van de Belgische delegatie van de Global Movement to Gaza, waarin we samen bespreken hoe we de nieuwe Flotilla kunnen ondersteunen en hoe gezamenlijke actie kan bijdragen aan het beëindigen van de genocide in Gaza.

Het doel is helder: de aandacht op Gaza gevestigd houden, het bewustzijn over de Flotilla vergroten en meewerken aan de veiligheid van de boten en hun bemanning. From every river to every sea, Palestine will be free. Doe mee en steun de lancering van de grootste humanitaire flotilla in de geschiedenis!

Op maandag 1 september vertonen we de film nog tweemaal, vlak voor en na de Antwerp for Palestine-betoging op de Grote Markt (elke maandag 19u–20u30). Deze vertoningen worden gevolgd door livestream beelden van de missie (30").

THE TRUTH: LOST AT SEA reconstrueert de gebeurtenissen rond de Freedom Flotilla van 2010, een vloot van humanitaire schepen die de blokkade van Gaza probeerde te doorbreken en internationale aandacht wilde vragen voor het lijden van de Palestijnen. Gefilmd aan boord en verteld door een van de overlevenden, toont de documentaire zowel de aanval zelf als de manier waarop de slachtoffers en hun kameraden in traditionele en online media werden afgebeeld. De film legt bloot wat er werkelijk gebeurde en hoe de feiten werden verdraaid. Regisseur Rifat Audeh is een Palestijnse mensenrechtenverdediger en activist die in 2010 zelf aan boord was van de Freedom Flotilla en de Israëlische aanval van dichtbij meemaakte.

De vertoningen in Antwerpen zijn een samenwerking tussen Morpho, Out of Sight, De Cinema, De Studio & Global Movement to Gaza Belgium. Alle ticketinkomsten gaan integraal naar Global Movement to Gaza Belgium.

On Sunday, August 31, several boats will depart from Europe towards Palestine, with the aim of breaking the blockade of Gaza and delivering urgently needed humanitarian aid. In solidarity, Global Movement to Gaza is organizing the Global Sumud Flotilla Launch Event, which will take place simultaneously in Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent, and Liège.

During this event, we will screen the documentary THE TRUTH: LOST AT SEA, about the Israeli attack on the Freedom Flotilla in 2010. After the film, there will be a Q&A with Astrid Jamar, representative of the Belgian delegation of the Global Movement to Gaza, where we will discuss together how to support the new Flotilla and how collective action can contribute to ending the genocide in Gaza.

The goal is clear: to keep attention focused on Gaza, to raise awareness about the Flotilla, and to help ensure the safety of the boats and their crews. From every river to every sea, Palestine will be free. Join us and support the launch of the largest humanitarian flotilla in history!

On Monday, September 1, the film will be screened twice more, right before and after the Antwerp for Palestine demonstration at the Grote Markt (every Monday 7:00–8:30 pm). These screenings will be followed by livestream footage of the mission (30").

THE TRUTH: LOST AT SEA reconstructs the events surrounding the 2010 Freedom Flotilla, a fleet of humanitarian ships that attempted to break the blockade of Gaza and draw international attention to the suffering of Palestinians. Filmed on board and told by one of the survivors, the documentary shows both the attack itself and how the victims and their comrades were portrayed in traditional and online media. The film exposes what really happened and how the facts were distorted. Director Rifat Audeh is a Palestinian human rights defender and activist who was himself on board the Freedom Flotilla in 2010 and experienced the Israeli attack firsthand.

The screenings in Antwerp are a collaboration between Morpho, Out of Sight, De Cinema, De Studio & Global Movement to Gaza Belgium. All ticket revenue go to Global Movement to Gaza Belgium.
