In pre-code drama THE WILD ONE, we see Marlon Brando in one of his most famous rebel parts; Johnny, leader of a motorcycle club that terrorizes an American town. Brando's character summarizes a whole subculture: that of wandering, troublesome teens. Brando's Johnny inspired many youngsters looking for a rolemodel, among whom Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley and James Dean. But of course, the cool, confident attitude of Brando was hiding insecurity and confusion. On the question of the girl Mildred: "Hey Johnny, what are you rebelling against?" he answered: "Whaddya got?"
