James Bond wordt belast met het onderzoek naar diamantsmokkelaars, die grote hoeveelheden Zuid-Afrikaanse diamanten doen verdwijnen. James Bond is tasked with investigating a diamond smuggling ring that seems to be making large amounts of South African diamonds disappear. He uses the identity of smuggler Peter Franks in an effort to find out where the diamonds are shipped to. Along the way, he meets Tiffany Case, a smuggler who was supposed to meet up with Franks. All of the evidence leads to 007’s ultimate arch enemy, Ernst Blofeld.
