There's never been a doubt that Almodóvar breaths cinema and lives for his art. In LOS ABRAZOS ROTOS, this love is literally put on the screen. The hero in Almodóvar's seventeenth film is a Spanish screenwriter who works under the pseudonym Harry Caine. A remarkable fact about Caine is that he writes his scripts in braille after becoming blind fourteen years previous because of a car accident. His mysterious past gets unraveled in flashbacks. This way, we learn more about his earlier life and secret love.

LOS ABRAZOS ROTOS brings a variation on the themes that we often see in Almodóvar's work. Passion, obsession, jealousy, but also family and guilt, which form the soil for his creativity. And all of that is captured in Almodóvar's recognizable, beautiful style and lively colour palette, with the help of cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto and eye-catching Penélope Cruz.
