Tennisster Guy Haines is ongelukkig getrouwd en hoopt op een snelle scheiding, maar zijn vrouw weigert. Op een treinrit ontmoet hij de psychopathische Bruno Antony, die hem onder lichte dwang een theorie uitlegt over hoe je kan wegkomen met moord. Zijn plan is simpel: twee mensen die elkaar niet kennen, vermoorden de persoon die de andere uit de weg wilt. Zonder motief en met een alibi kan de schuld nooit bij hen gelegd worden. Bruno stelt voor de vrouw van Guy uit de weg te ruimen, als hij Bruno’s vader naar de andere wereld zou helpen. Hoewel Guy de ‘deal’ weigert, voert Bruno toch zijn helft van het plan uit. Wanneer Guy zijn deel van de ‘afspraak’ niet nakomt, maakt Bruno hem het leven zuur.

De film wordt 27 november voorafgegaan door een lezing om 19u00 over Hitchcock en Hollywoodcinema door Wouter Hessels, docent filmgeschiedenis (KASKA-DKO, RITCS, INSAS), en is gratis bij je filmticket inbegrepen.

Tennis star Guy Haines is unhappily married and wants a quick divorce, but his wife refuses. On a train ride, he meets the psychopath Bruno Antony, who forcibly explains his theory on how to get away with murder. His plan is simple: two strangers kill the person the other one wants gone. Without a motive and with an alibi, the blame can never be placed on them. Bruno suggests to Guy that he could kill his wife for him, if he kills Bruno’s father. Even though Guy refuses the ‘deal’, Bruno goes ahead and carries out his part of the plan. When Guy doesn’t fulfil his part of the ‘bargain’, Bruno tries to ruin his life.

27 November, the film will be preceded by a lecture (in Dutch) at 19h00 on Hitchcok and Hollywood cinema by film history professor Wouter Hessels (KASKA-DKO, RITCS, and INSAS) and is included in your entrance ticket.
