Voor onze nieuwe samenwerking met de geëngageerde filmclub Movie Matters, waarbij maatschappelijk relevante thema's worden aangekaart en besproken met een gastspreker en het publiek, tonen ze deze keer THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN van Martin McDonagh (THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI). 

Twee goede vrienden Padraic (Colin Farrell) en Colm (Brendan Gleeson) belanden in een moeilijke situatie wanneer Colm plotseling besluit hun vriendschap te verbreken. Op het eiland voor de Westkust van Ierland, waar de twee wonen, probeert een verwarde Padraic de vriendschap nieuw leven in te blazen met hulp van zijn zus Siobhan (Kerry Condon). Zij heeft haar eigen problemen met Dominic, de zoon van de lokale politieman. De gebeurtenissen escaleren volledig als Colm een drastisch ultimatum stelt om zijn voornemen duidelijk te maken.

De filmclub Movie Matters gaat voor de film (+/- 20') in gesprek met Anna Vleeshouwers van het kenniscentrum voor Gender en Feminisme 'Rosa vzw'. Samen met ZIJN vzw zit Rosa vzw achter het platform MoveMen dat zich inzet voor meer gendergelijkheid en de rol van mannen hierin.

For our new collaboration with the engaged film club Movie Matters, where socially relevant issues are raised and discussed with a guest speaker and the audience, this time they are showing THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN by Martin McDonagh (THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI). 

Two good friends Padraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson) find themselves in a difficult situation when Colm suddenly decides to break off their friendship. On the island off the west coast of Ireland where the two live, a confused Padraic tries to revive the friendship with the help of his sister Siobhan (Kerry Condon). She has her own problems with Dominic, the son of the local policeman. Events escalate completely when Colm issues a drastic ultimatum to make his intentions clear.

Before the film, the Movie Matters film club talks with Anna Vleeshouwers of the knowledge center for Gender and Feminism 'Rosa vzw' (+/- 20'). Together with ZIJN vzw, Rosa vzw is behind the platform MoveMen that works for more gender equality and the role of men in it. The introduction will be held in Dutch.
