Met TROIS SOUVENIRS DE MA JEUNESSE keert Arnaud Desplechin terug naar het rijke en complexe emotionele landschap van jeugd en herinnering dat hij eerder onderzocht in UN CONTE DE NOËL en COMMENT JE ME SUIS DISPUTÉ…(MA VIE SEXUELLE). Paul mijmert over zijn kindertijd in Roubaix, over zijn ouders, over die schoolreis naar de Sovjet-Unie toen hij zijn identiteit uitleende aan een ander, over zijn studententijd in Parijs… Maar Paul denkt vooral terug aan Esther, zijn grote jeugdliefde, die nooit helemaal uit zijn gedachten is verdwenen.

In aanwezigheid van regisseur Arnaud Desplechin, die de film zal voorzien van een inleiding, en na de film in gesprek zal gaan met Adrian Martin.

With TROIS SOUVENIRS DE MA JEUNESSE, Arnaud Desplechin returns to the rich and complex emotional landscape of youth and memories, which he previously investigated in UN CONTE DE NOËL and COMMENT JE ME SUIS DISPUTÉ…(MA VIE SEXUELLE). Paul reminisces about his childhood in Roubaix, about his parents, about that school trip to the Soviet Union when he lent his identity to another person, about his college years in Paris… But above all, Paul remembers his time with Esther, the great love of his youth, who has never really left his mind.

Director Arnaud Desplechin will give an introduction to the film and will talk about his work with Adrian Martin after the screening.
