Mia is een vijftienjarig meisje met een explosief karakter. Ze woont samen met haar alleenstaande moeder en kleine zus in een arbeiderswijk in Essex. Mia is van school gestuurd en wacht doelloos op wat er nu zal volgen. Wanneer haar moeder de charmante Connor introduceert als haar nieuwe vriend, begint er een ongemakkelijke vriendschap tussen de man en Mia. Het is Connor die Mia’s passie voor dans steunt, maar het duurt niet lang voor Connor hen terug in de steek laat. Hoofdactrice Katie Jarvis had geen acteerervaring voor de shoot, maar werd gecast na een ruzie met haar vriend in een treinstation.

Mia is a 15-year-old girl with an explosive character. She lives together with her single mother and baby sister in a working-class district in Essex. Mia is expelled from school and purposelessly awaits the next step in her life. When her mother introduces the charming Connor as her new boyfriend, an uneasy friendship grows between the man and Mia. It’s Connor who supports Mia’s love of dance, but it doesn’t take long before Connor leaves them again. Lead actress Katie Jarvis did not have any previous acting experience before the shoot, but was cast after a real-life fight with her boyfriend in a train station.
