“As with its two predecessors — and with the films of French New Wave director Éric Rohmer, presiding deity of this kind of cinema—MIDNIGHT’s essentially a film about people talking. But when the talk's this good, this absorbing and revealing and witty and true, who's going to complain? A more-than-worthy, expectation-exceeding chapter in one of modern cinema's finest love stories. As honest, convincing, funny, intimate and natural as its predecessors”, vat journalist Philip Kemp de film mooi samen.

SPOILER ALERT: do not continue to read if you haven’t seen BEFORE SUNRISE and BEFORE SUNSET yet!
Another 9 years after their second meeting in Paris, and 18 years after their first meeting in Vienna, Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Céline (Julie Delpy) live together is Paris with their twin daughters. We meet the family on their summer holiday in Greece, when Jesse says goodbye to his teenage son Hank. Hank is returning to Chicago, where he lives with his mother and Jesse’s ex-wife. Jesse and Céline share a meal with friends, reflecting on love and life and questioning life decisions.
This closing chapter of Richard Linklater’s BEFORE-trilogy was again written by the director and the two main actors. As honest, convincing, funny, intimate and natural as its predecessors”, concludes journalist Philip Kemp beautifully.
For the marathon screening of the entire trilogy on Sunday 7 September, there are also combo tickets.
