She describes her childhood and the changes her life underwent at the beginning of the new millennium, when she landed a job as a hostess in a trendy bar.

He has since retired, yet Hou Hsiao-hsien is still considered one of the most important contemporary film auteurs. His films possess a distinct visual style and frequently offer a retrospective glimpse into the lives of ordinary people, showcasing some of the most significant characteristics of Taiwanese New Wave cinema.

MILLENIUM MAMBO was nominated for the Palme d’Or in Cannes, where sound designer Tu Duu-chich took home the Technical Grand Prize. The film is part of De Cinema’s summer programme ETERNAL SUMMER, ENDLESS NIGHTS, in which sunlit discoveries are contrasted with the inciting hedonism of the night.
